Mankind?

For the longest time i've been mind-boggled by the word "mankind". How is it that we never know exactly who or what we are dealing with?
How come people never turn out to be who they've portrayed themselves to be?

Why does the word "kind" feature in mankind anyway, when all we do is hurt, use and manipulate to our advantage.

Many times we are told to fight our way through. You gotta be tough and push forward -be hard as nails?? What does the term "hard as nails" mean anyway? Am i supposed to compromise my principles and beliefs just to be the best?

"The world wears a mask" they say, i reckon it's a layer of veils we wear. The amount of layers depends on how open and honest we are to ourselves. How much of ourselves we are willing to reveal..
Are we unhappy, or have we been programmed to be this way? Maybe we've become so caught up in the so called "dog eat dog" world, the world where we don't care about anothers' emotional wellbeing.
The world where we are so self-absorbed that we don't really give a fellow human being a second glance.

Why the smoke and mirrors??

The more i hide, the less they see... Well, who knows

Now, slowly lift your veil and ask yourself - "am i really worthy of being called mankind?"

The true challenge lies in being truthful to yourself....
